Mis-diagnosis, wrong medicine
Cosmetic removal of the Pharmacy park does no service to the Alliance to Reduce Substance Abuse, and bares to public view the hollow core of our response to the social ills of homelessness and public drunkeness, that is, get them out of sight. The park inadvertently showcased them. This much irrefutable, one might ponder whether the Pharmacy had any options. Here’s one that could still apply: Create a club with a purpose and rules. To be a member, have to write name & birthplace in book, and wear name tag.
Purposes are tend the plants, fix potholes in the lot, and clean the porta toilet. Rotating offices: Bouncer, and keeper of the book. Funding by the Chamber. As to the eucalyptus, it was no sicker than Vashon’s social gut.
